Print Proofs & Other News

Hi Gang,
Hope all is well. I wanted to check in as we enter October, and most importantly talk about the big news - The proofs arrived! I'm over the moon, and I can't wait to share the pics with you. But first off, let's get the less exciting news out of the way.
Updated Timeline
The proofs came out amazing, but after seeing the physical version, we are going to switch from stapled binding to perfect bound. This may sound like a small detail, but it makes a big difference in how the book holds together and is presented. We weren't 100% which direction to go. But now we are. We also noticed a few typos we missed, and those will be corrected as well.
This small speed bump will knock us back one month (originally planned for delivery this month of October) to next month - November. Most likely the week of Thanksgiving here in the states, because I'll be off. Not a huge difference in the grand scheme of things, but a difference all the same. I always want to be as transparent as possible. Once you have that copy in your hands though, it will definitely be worth the wait. Appreciate your patience.
Print Proof Pics
Now the moment you've been waiting for - the pics!!
Is this book gorgeous or what?!! The printing, colors, paper stock, everything is top notch. It's taking everything inside me not to post all the pages. But I want you to be surprised and experience it yourself.
Projects can take so long sometimes. You get so deep into something, that you can often lose any sense of meaning. You're so close to it, that you wonder if it will ever get done. Let alone if anyone will like it. But holding this in my hand, truly makes it real. I was so incredibly proud of the entire team for making this a reality. I can't wait for you to check it out.
Updated Digital Versions
You also may have noticed another update from Backerkit in regards to more digital files. As I mentioned earlier, we noticed a few typos. So I resent the updated "combined" and "spreads" editions with the new edits. They are 99% the same as the versions you already received. Only minus those small typos we found.
I also sent out the bonus digital secret menu item to those that commented during the campaign as per my newsletter prompt. I appreciate your patience on that. I've been experimenting with fun ways to reward those of you that join the newsletter. So thank you!

Digital Downloads & Other Rewards!

Hi Gang,
Apologies for the radio silence. As I mentioned in the last update, the design aspects were all encompassing and took more time than we anticipated. But trust me, it was worth it! The magazine looks gorgeous!
As we speak, I'm sending out all digital rewards through Backerkit. Whatever you ordered here or as digital add-ons, should be hitting your inboxes today. Please let me know if you have any issues accessing them.
Another thing I wanted to mention, was I included two different versions of the magazine. I labeled them as such, but wanted to make sure there was clarification.
"Combined" version: This is a more "scroll happy" version. Pages that can be read as a single page are solo, and double page spreads are together to keep the image intact. This will make more sense when you download and view it. My personal choice.
"Spreads" version: All pages are displayed as double page spreads, similar to a real magazine. Ideal viewing for a laptop or desktop. But might be tougher on a tablet.
Both versions are great. Merely a preference. I'd rather you have too much than not enough. The digital "Making Of" featurette from the stretch goals has been added as well. Definitely give that a look through. I had a ton of fun making that, and really shows the passion the team put into the magazine.
Lastly, here's a few pics of some completed rewards. The enamel pins are in and they look phenomenal!
Also the stickers and bookmarks are done.

I believe that wraps it all up. The final preparations are being done to the files for printing, and then we're a go! The t-shirts and badges are in production as we speak. Once everything is shipped to my house, I'll begin the fulfillment process.

Locking Surveys + Book Production

Quick check in here to let you know I will be locking surveys by this weekend. That means if you bought add-ons, your cards will be charged.
As of now, 90% of you have completed your survey. Thank you! For those 10% left, please fill those out. I want to make sure you get your rewards on time.
Book Production
We are SO CLOSE to finalizing the design aspects of the book! As I might of mentioned before, I come from a comics background traditionally, and this is my first time doing a magazine. The level of design work that goes into this type of project has been eye opening to say the least, heh.
In comics you have the logo, possibly some other cover elements, inner/ back cover interior details, and maybe some back matter. In a magazine it's every page! Myself and my collaborator Mark have gone back and forth on numerous zoom calls going over page order and all the different aspects, making sure everything is perfect. It's coming along beautifully and I'm so excited for you all to see. But it's just taken a bit longer than originally anticipated.
As of now, I'm hoping we can have everything wrapped up by the end of the month, sticking to our original time table. However, that may get bumped by a week or two to early August. I'm using a domestic printer, so that shouldn't affect our overall timeline too much, but I wanted to be as transparent as possible. In the meantime, here's a peek at some interiors for an article and one of the ads:

Surveys Sent

Hi Gang,
Hope all is well! Checking in to let you know surveys have gone out via Backerkit. The sooner we get those all filled out, the quicker I can finalize reward counts, and get them shipped to me for packaging. A few other things:

Add-ons: As I mentioned in a previous post, there's a few add-on options that weren't available during the campaign. T-shirts for one, which I got repeated messages about. I'm also offering youth sizes for those that asked about children sizes. In addition, I have a sci-fi comic available both digitally and printed copies that can be added on. Not to mention pins and other comics are available as well.

Rewards - While I await the final order numbers, some of the rewards I was already able to order, specifically the stickers, bookmarks, and pins. Those are on their way.

Book production - We're humming along, finalizing the design aspects. A few hiccups with a family emergency and some traveling, but nothing I'm too worried about schedule-wise yet. I will keep you posted in regards to the digital release and when the books go to print.

Tier reminder: Those of you that did packages that included a personalized security badge, please make sure to send me your photo for the badge. In the past campaign, a few backers completed the survey without doing that, and it set them back quite a bit timewise.

Moving Right Along

Hope everyone is well. Checking in to let you know, the funds have officially arrived in my account as of this morning.
I’m traveling at the moment, but I’m almost done prepping the Backerkit surveys. Those should be going out shortly. So keep an eye out.
Please make sure to fill those out ASAP so I can start putting in final numbers for any add-ons to order rewards. If you need to change your address in the near future, don’t stress. I’ll send out a notification before I start shipping.
